50 Things Every Young Lady Should Know!!!

I have finished reading "50 Things Every Young Lady Should Know". it is written by Kay West with John Bridges and Bryan Curtis. I was very keen to get this book because I have four little lady's at home ranging from 8 to 1. I flew threw this book faster than imagined, then read it again. The book is very easy to read each chapter is quick and to the point and has wonderful guidelines at the end to help you with what you just read. After reading I think this book should be taught in grade one and two, It is full of common sense that people don't seem to have now a days. The book has a chapter for each thing they teach. These 50 thing's range from how and when to say please and thank you, being a dinner guest, the computer, personal grooming, and helping others.

I recommend every one to read this book not just the parents with little girls. the hole world could do with a health dose of manner and kindness. I have had the pleasure of reading this book for free. I received this book threw booksneeze.com. and they supply me with books for free as long as I write a review on them. This book needless to say has earned a five star rating from me. Enjoy!!!

the Realms Thereunder

Well I have spent a lot more time then usual reading this book by Ross Lawhead. This is a book I got for free threw Booksneeze. When I read about this book coming out I was super excited and couldn't wait for the book to arrive in the mail. I started it right away and after the first chapter I slowed down. The Idea of the book is wonderful but it is not written out very well at all.

This story is about two young kids that go exploring during a school field trip and get lost. Very lost, in fact they don't show up again for years. they find a room with enchanted knight's and go off on an adventure to save another world. sounds wonderful but the book is difficult to get threw.

It jumps from present to past and never really lets you know when that is happening. Some chapter's begin in the future and end in the past. The story takes a long time to get to where it can possible make sense, pretty much the end of the book is where everything starts to click. I would say that the Author spent way to much time trying to help draw a picture in my head. There was sooooooo much detail about locations and not the story. I would give this book two stars our of five.

Treasuring Emma

Well. As you have read my two earlier reviews I tend to like my books a little more...... adventurous then this book looks but I have sworn to be diverse in this blog so here we go.

Treasuring Emma came to me threw book sneeze for free, as I have signed up to write reviews on any books I read for them. This book is written by Kathleen Fuller. I choose to read this book because a while back I read an Amish book and started to look into their life style and their way of living. Now from what I know the Amish would not allow their women to read romance novels. ( those dirty things. tehehe)
So the very fact not only is there one of these book but a hole series just makes me giggle. I think I did pick a rather good book this time as it seem to have everything. The soon to be old maid at 24 years old, whose life is full of misery at every turn in the road. The difficult older sister already married off and with children. Loving and super intuitive yet sick Grandma, the banished ex love of her life. Last but not least a new man in town...... Good... or... BAD.....

I found the story held my attention very well and rather enjoyed how the author jumped to each character, you never got bored. How ever being that it was considered a romance book I did assume there would be at least one or two heated scenes in the book. Being that is was Amish I knew that a sex scene might be a little too much to ask. Looking back I guess there was at least one Heat scene. For me how ever it was just not enough. To me a good romance novel must have sex inside some where, and the usual build up of sexual tension, ending of course with the ultimate sex scene. Ok now I'm just getting hope full aren't I.
That being said I found this book more of a drama then a romance so I'm going to be giving it three star's out of five.

Hit List

So "HIT LIST" hmmmmm what can I say really..... Hit list is written by Laurell K Hamilton. So for anyone that reads fiction or simply loves books will already know this lady's book will kick the ass of any other book out there. Ok I'm sorry I know there could be someone out there that does not like Laurell. However in my very bias and not at all professional opinion she is very good at tearing apart her imagination and wiping it all over the pages. When she writes a book be warned she does not hold back. Blood and guts are a specialty and not just the average battles and death are involved in her books. She will also always make sure there is a decent amount of sex mixed into every situation.

Laurell k. Hamilton has two series of book running write now the first ANITA BLAKE:Vampire Hunter, Hit List is the 20th book in this series(which is also currently coming out in a comic). The second is the Merry Gentry series which has only 8 books written in it and has more sex and magic, a little less violence.

This book "HIT LIST" is based around the main character Anita and her close friend and fellow Marshal "Ted Forrester" Aka "Edward" Aka "Death". I liked the book quite a bit, however I still have a favorite of hers and in this series it still is and probably always will be "Narcissus in Chains". I found in this book it just simply ended far to fast for me. Although I have said that a lot lately, maybe I was simply spoiled and now I always want more. I would give four out of five stars for this book.

The Gathering

This book is written by Kelly Armstrong. I have read quite a few books written by this author and I have always been pleased. A short while ago she started a series of books for teenagers, her other books I had read were all adult. The series consisted of three books (The Summoning, The Awakening and The Reckoning), that I blew right threw and loved. The Gathering is a spin off other those three books so I thought I would really like it.

The main character of this book is a young adopted girl living in the woods, because her father is a park ranger. She goes to school in a little town western Canada. The story started rather slow for me, but knowing the author I kept on reading, soon I was hooked. This book however ends like that three before it... Or should I say does not really end at all. The immediate danger gets wrapped up of course but the main mystery of the story is only just begun to shimmer threw the curtains. So now I will sit in agony waiting for her next book to come and pull me falling into her world. Good job Mrs. Armstrong, good job.

Money Secrets of the Amish

I just finished reading "Money Secrets of the Amish". This is another book I received free from "BookSneeze" just for writing this review. This book was really out of my circle for normal reading material. I have never read a book on money and how to be smart with it. I found that it drew me in with the little tips and quirks about the Amish and how they live. All the information is easy is understand and almost obvious. I gained a hole new respect for the Amish people and there way of life. Don't get me wrong I 'm not going to stop using buttons and start riding in a horse and buggy. I will however be using quite a few of the tips and ideas that I found it this book. This book really made me look closely at the money problems in our house hold. It even sparked a three hour conversation between my husband and I about where we could be cutting corners. Overall I found this book to be four stars out of five. If I knew a friend that was looking for books on money then I would definitely recommend this book to them.

Room

I heard about this book when I was on vacation, my sister told me about it. On the last few days of my vacation I gave in to that nagging feeling in the back of my head telling me I had to read this book. I found it in the book store, right up front on the employee pick section. I was already in the middle of another book when I got this one but decided to just give it a tiny look.
Now mind you I have a busy life including three kids five and under, I still read this book in under two days. I just had to finish the book. I got back home from vacation a day latter and I had an hour left of the book. Sadly I dumped the kids on my husband and just sat reading.
The Room is write from the point of view of a five year old boy, if you think that would be enough your wrong. This child was born and raised in a room with no windows (except a skylight), and taught that nothing existed out side this room. The book centers around the boy turning five and starting to figure out the world and then how he deals with the real world when he escapes.
This book really hit home since I myself am a mother and that I have a five year old. I have found Emma Donoghue an insightful and breath taking author to read. Despite the degradation of the entire situation I came away from feeling Jack's (the five year old boy) Innocence and unabashed love. This book simply blew me away, five out of five stars here, a must read.

Daddy Dates

I recently read Daddy Dates. I got this book from "BookSneeze" for free just for doing this review. This book is written by a father and is sort of an hands on guide, on how to get close with your daughter and stay close threw out the teen years and into adulthood. He talks about how he got to know each of his daughters by treating them like real people not kids. Also how to teach trust and respect to your kids so they hear your words instead of brushing you off.

I found this book over all very interesting, I kept wanting to grab a highlighter and mark out passages for later. The author's day job is a motivational speaker and it really shines threw in this book. he deals with tough topics but makes you feel like if you just try it out you can do it. I didn't want to put the book down the hole time I was reading. It seemed every new page had something other tidbit of info that could really help out in my life. I also found that he would comment not just on daughter but women in general. Over all I would say this book is five out of five stars, if you have kids or even want to relate better to the people around you read this book.
